Premium wood, cut and finished in our own workshop in Gujarat, India. We will tell you exactly which part is the machine and which is the person.

Every piece needs more than fifteen hundred separate cuts, over two hundred in each layer, aligned tighter than a hand can hold. So the cutting is done by laser. Everything after that is human, and it takes nine to eleven hours: sanding in stages, paint applied by hand layer by layer, then eight to ten layers aligned by eye, because a single layer slightly off collapses the depth entirely.

Competitors use the laser to skip the work. We use it to make the work possible.

Every design starts at a design table, not a warehouse. A single design takes five to fifteen days: subject research, composition, a full black and white sketch, the vector linework that decides how every layer interlocks, then a 3D render so we can see how the light will fall before anyone touches wood.

No design is approved on the first pass. Each one goes through eight to ten complete rounds of revision before we sign it off.

Depth that is physically there rather than printed on. Eight to ten separate layers of wood are stacked so a subject rises out of the geometry: a peacock, an Om, a chakra, a lotus.

Because the layers sit at different heights, the shadows between them shift as the light changes through the day and as you move past the piece. It reads differently from the doorway than it does from the couch. A photograph flattens that; a wall does not.

Sizes vary by design, and every product page lists exactly what that piece comes in, with a size guide showing each option against a real room.

• 12 x 12 to 18 x 18: shelves, bedside tables, reading nooks
• 18 x 18 to 24 x 24: the most popular range, living rooms and above a console
• 24 x 24 and up: statement pieces and feature walls

If you are between two sizes, go one up. Mandalas need breathing room on a wall, and the piece almost always reads smaller once it is hanging than it did on screen.

Each piece is packed for the trip from India, and our return rate sits under 3%, which for art bought sight unseen is the number we are most proud of. If yours does arrive damaged, see the returns answer below. We replace it.

Every piece arrives ready to hang with a pre-drilled hole on the back. One screw and a wall anchor is all you need, and it is lighter than it looks. Instructions are in the box.

• Use the right anchor for your wall type, drywall or plaster
• Use a level, since the geometry makes any tilt obvious
• For the largest sizes, two people make it easier

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth, or barely damp if needed. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from direct moisture. With normal indoor care the colour and detail hold for years.

Every piece is made to order, so we are not able to accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind. We would rather tell you that here than have you find it out afterwards, which is also why we offer a consultation before you buy.

If your piece arrives damaged or defective we will make it right. Contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and we will arrange a replacement or a refund.

A protective coating goes onto every finished piece and holds the colour and finish for years rather than months. We warrant that for 8 to 10 years against quality degradation, which means fading, warping, or a finish that gives out.

It is not an accident policy. Damage in transit is covered separately, under the returns answer above.

Intarsia was started by Jay and Milan, childhood friends who grew up one house apart in Gujarat, India. Jay designs every piece. Milan runs the US side.

We run a design studio and workshop in a small town in Gujarat where a trained team works on nothing but this. Building a mandala in layers is not a skill anyone arrives with, so we trained for it, and the same small group has been sanding, painting, aligning and finishing every piece that leaves us.

Intarsia is the old craft of fitting distinct pieces of wood together into one form. We combine that tradition with sacred geometry and a subject living inside the pattern, so every design carries both meaning and precision.

Many of them do. Chakra pieces, Om, the lotus and the peacock are chosen because they carry meaning, not only because they look good.

We are not going to promise you an energy. The meaning a piece holds is yours to bring. But we hear often that one made a meditation corner feel intentional, or arrived at a moment when its symbolism mattered more than anyone expected.
